Let me know as soon as you come out with some audio and I'll review it-- I've been making music for a while and I might be able to help you get started!
I'd recommend Garage Band if you have a Macintosh, that's a good place to start, otherwise go with guitar pro (augh! Midi editors) The quality won't be great, but you can get more of a feel for how sounds go together so you can write more clearly.
It's like sculpting or painting. You can have amazing ideas, but you need to know how to get them from your head into reality.
